National News – President Bola Tinubu has declared that no religion or holy scripture supports banditry, killings, or any form of criminal violence, urging Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and tolerance during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Lagos.

The President made the statement on Wednesday after observing the Eid prayer at Dodan Barracks, where he addressed worshippers and political leaders gathered for the annual celebration.

Tinubu said the teachings of Islam and other faiths place a high value on human life and strongly reject violence against innocent people.

According to him, the story of Prophet Ibrahim during Eid-el-Kabir reflects obedience, sacrifice, and love for humanity rather than bloodshed or hatred.

He stressed that Nigerians must reject ethnic discrimination, religious intolerance, and acts capable of threatening national peace.

The President explained that the season of sacrifice should encourage citizens to show kindness, generosity, and compassion to one another, especially to the less privileged in society.

He added that obedience to the rule of law and respect for humanity remain essential for national development and peaceful coexistence across the country.

Tinubu also noted that Nigeria’s diversity should serve as a source of strength instead of division.

He urged citizens to place national unity above political, ethnic, or religious interests in order to promote stability and progress.

The President further encouraged Nigerians to support one another and preserve the sanctity of life at all times.

During the sermon, the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, advised Muslims to fear Allah and uphold the values of sacrifice, unity, and generosity.

Special prayers were also offered for the President and the peace of Nigeria.

Several dignitaries attended the Eid prayer session, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Governor Babatunde Fashola, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu.
