National News – Former Super Eagles legends have expressed differing opinions ahead of the UEFA Champions League final between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), scheduled for Saturday at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest.

The highly anticipated showdown has divided some of Nigeria’s football icons, with supporters emerging on both sides of the contest.

Former PSG defender Godwin Okpara and ex-midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha have tipped the French champions to retain the prestigious European title.

Okpara, who enjoyed a successful spell with PSG, believes the club’s strength lies in its teamwork and squad depth rather than reliance on individual stars.

According to him, PSG’s transformation under coach Luis Enrique has created a balanced and disciplined side capable of overcoming any challenge.

He noted that the team possesses quality across every department, from defence to attack, giving them an edge over Arsenal.

Okocha, another former PSG player, also voiced confidence in the French side.

Reflecting on PSG’s recent success in Europe, he praised the club’s tactical discipline and ability to execute game plans effectively on the biggest stage.

However, former Arsenal star Nwankwo Kanu has backed the English champions to emerge victorious.

Kanu, who won the UEFA Champions League with Ajax in 1995, believes Arsenal’s unbeaten run in Europe this season and their Premier League triumph have positioned them perfectly for success.

The former Nigerian captain highlighted the team’s confidence, defensive organisation and determination under manager Mikel Arteta as major strengths.

He said Arsenal’s impressive performances throughout the competition have given the players belief that they can finally lift the trophy.

Former Super Eagles defender Tajudeen Disu also favoured Arsenal, describing the occasion as a long-awaited opportunity for the club to secure European glory.

While acknowledging PSG’s quality as defending champions, he said Arsenal could prevail if they execute their tactics effectively.

The final brings together two domestic champions, with PSG winning Ligue 1 and Arsenal claiming the Premier League title.

Football fans across the world are expecting a thrilling encounter as both clubs battle for continental supremacy.
