National News – Atlético Madrid are reportedly prepared to listen to offers for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, just months after signing him in a high-profile January transfer from Atalanta.
The Spanish club’s decision comes as part of a wider squad restructuring ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old winger joined Diego Simeone’s side in February 2026 for about €35m plus add-ons, signing a long-term contract running until 2030.
However, despite scoring four La Liga goals and contributing in domestic and UEFA Champions League fixtures, Lookman has struggled to fully adapt to Simeone’s intense defensive and tactical system.
Reports suggest Atlético could sanction his departure for around €60m, making him a major summer target.
Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are monitoring the situation closely due to his pace, pressing ability, and versatility across attacking roles.
Outside England, Turkish side Fenerbahçe and French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also linked, while Italian clubs Inter Milan and Juventus are reportedly admirers.
However, Atlético’s valuation and the player’s €6m net annual wages could complicate negotiations.
Lookman previously enjoyed success at Atalanta, where he scored a Europa League final hat-trick and netted 55 goals during his spell in Bergamo.
His earlier career in England included spells at Everton, Fulham, Leicester City, and Charlton Athletic, making him a well-travelled attacker with Premier League experience.
The potential transfer saga is expected to dominate the summer window as Atlético reshape their squad.
Clubs continue to assess financial and sporting feasibility as negotiations are expected to intensify in the coming weeks, with Lookman’s representatives weighing options that balance playing time, Champions League ambition, and long-term career stability ahead of the new season.
