The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has approved the deployment of new Commissioners of Police (CPs) to eight state commands and several strategic police formations across the country as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and improve policing nationwide.

The deployment, which received the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC), was announced in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.

According to the statement, the new state police commissioners are Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (Abia), Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), Saka Adewale Ajao (Bayelsa), Ajo Geoffrey Ordue (Cross River), Nanna Oji Ama (Anambra), Patrick Daaor (Edo), Tani Murtala (Jigawa), and Samuel Erale (Delta).

The IGP also approved the redeployment of several commissioners to key formations, including the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), the Police Academy, and the Police Staff College.

Among those posted to strategic formations are CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to INTERPOL at the FCID, Abuja; CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike to the Department of Finance and Administration/Department of Training and Development at Force Headquarters; CP Uduak Ita Otu to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the FCID Annex in Lagos; CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf to the General Investigation Department of the FCID, Abuja; CP Taiwo A. Adedeji to the Counter Terrorism Unit at Force Headquarters; and CP Ajayi Oluyemi to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the FCID, Abuja.

Other appointments include CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman as Inspectorate Commissioner at the Department of Training and Development, CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed as Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos, CP Rita Oyintare Oki to the Department of Finance and Administration at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos, and CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura as CP Administration at the FCID Annex, Kaduna.

Additional redeployments saw CP Nelson Nwamana posted to the Police Academy, Kano, while CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo was assigned to the FCID Annex in Gombe.

The police said the redeployment is part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency, strengthening internal capacity, and enhancing service delivery across the country.

Disu urged the newly deployed commissioners to apply their experience in promoting intelligence-led policing, professionalism, operational effectiveness, and community engagement while maintaining discipline and accountability in protecting lives and property.
