National News – Suspected gunmen have abducted three members of a family in the Ipojo Golden Estate area of Oke-Eri, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, deepening concerns over rising insecurity and kidnapping incidents across communities in the state.

The attack reportedly occurred around 7pm on Monday when about 15 armed men stormed the estate and threw residents into panic.

According to eyewitness accounts, the heavily armed assailants invaded the family residence, searched the building and forcefully whisked away two women and a man.

During the operation, a woman was reportedly shot as the kidnappers escaped through a nearby forest route.

Residents said the head of the family, believed to be a government employee, was not at home when the attackers struck.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident on Tuesday through its spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi.

He stated that tactical teams and intelligence units had been deployed to rescue the abducted victims and track down those responsible for the crime.

The police also reassured residents that security agencies remained committed to combating violent crimes and kidnapping across the state.

Community leaders and residents described the incident as shocking, noting that Ipojo Golden Estate had long been considered peaceful.

A community leader, Mr Kehinde, urged the Ogun State Government and security agencies to strengthen surveillance and improve security presence in the area to prevent further attacks.

A relative of the victims, Mr Yesiru Badewa, expressed concern over the condition of one of the abducted women who was reportedly ill before the attack.
