National News – Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo (popularly known as Sunday Igboho), on Monday, May 25, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State, said he is still awaiting approval from the Federal Government for his proposed security outfit, Iru Ekun Security Network.
The group is aimed at dislodging criminals from South-West forests in Nigeria.
Igboho said all required documents for the security outfit have been submitted to the Federal Government.
He explained that the initiative is designed to tackle rising insecurity across the South-West region.
This includes kidnapping, banditry, and attacks in rural communities across Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, and Lagos states.
He noted that the plan is to work with the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps once approval is granted.
He also said the outfit will fully comply with Oyo State’s Executive Order 001 of 2026 regulating private security operations.
Igboho added that the aim is to protect rural communities and farmers. He stressed that improved security is key to food production and economic stability in the region.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for efforts to strengthen national security.
According to him, collaboration between community security groups and government agencies is essential for lasting peace.
The development highlights ongoing efforts to improve security in South-West Nigeria, especially in forested areas used by criminal groups.
It reflects growing coordination between government and local security initiatives.
