National News – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced June 13, 2026, as the official date for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination mop-up exercise.

The examination body disclosed this on Monday through its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, explaining that the exercise is meant for candidates who could not complete or sit for the UTME due to technical glitches, biometric verification failures, or examination-related issues.

According to JAMB, the mop-up examination will serve as the final phase of the 2026 UTME process.

The board stated that only candidates who were successfully verified during the original examination period between April 16 and April 23, 2026, but were unable to write the exam, would be eligible to participate in the rescheduled test.

The examination body explained that the move became necessary to ensure fairness and give affected candidates another opportunity to complete their university admission process.

JAMB added that the exercise would help resolve all outstanding complaints linked to the conduct of the 2026 UTME nationwide.

Candidates affected by the issues were advised to begin printing their Examination Notification Slips from June 6, 2026.

JAMB also urged them to visit and familiarise themselves with their designated centres before the examination date to avoid delays and confusion on the day of the exercise.

The board warned that the mop-up examination would be the final opportunity for candidates who missed the earlier examination.

It stressed that no additional examination would be conducted after June 13 for any affected candidate.

The announcement has drawn attention from students and parents across Nigeria, especially those awaiting admission into tertiary institutions.

Many candidates are expected to use the mop-up exercise to complete their UTME requirements ahead of the admission process for the 2026 academic session.
