National News – President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace love, tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence as Muslims across the country celebrate the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir festival.
The President made the call on Wednesday after observing Eid prayers at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Lagos State.
Tinubu thanked Almighty Allah for preserving the lives of Nigerians to witness another Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
He said the season should remind citizens about compassion, sacrifice, generosity and national unity regardless of ethnic, religious or political differences.
Speaking to journalists after the prayers, the President stressed the importance of showing kindness and understanding to one another.
According to him, Nigerians must reject hatred, discrimination and division while promoting peace and mutual respect in society.
The President explained that Eid-el-Kabir represents obedience to the will of Allah and the value of sacrifice.
He noted that the celebration also reflects the sanctity of human life, urging citizens to remain law-abiding and committed to national development.
Tinubu further appealed to Nigerians to support one another during the festive period by extending love and assistance to the less privileged.
He said acts of generosity and compassion would strengthen unity and reinforce the country’s shared humanity.
The President also highlighted the need for tolerance and respect for the rule of law as critical pillars for peace and stability in Nigeria.
He encouraged citizens to continue praying for the nation and its leaders as the government works towards progress and economic growth.
Muslims across Nigeria marked Eid-el-Kabir with prayers, celebrations and charitable activities in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience and willingness to sacrifice for Allah.
The festival remains one of the most significant religious celebrations in Islam.
