National News – Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has sparked reactions after stating that many men are in relationships and marriages with women who do not genuinely love them.
The actor made the remarks during an appearance on a podcast where he discussed love, cheating, emotional loyalty, and relationship boundaries.
The 44-year-old actor said many men fail to recognise when their partners are emotionally disconnected.
According to him, women who truly love their partners are usually committed and willing to support the relationship.
He claimed that some women remain in relationships while emotionally attached to someone else, leading to lack of commitment and trust issues.
Speaking on infidelity, Edochie argued that cheating affects men and women differently.
He stated that once a woman begins to cheat in a relationship, she may have already checked out emotionally and psychologically.
The actor referenced a recent viral controversy involving an alleged affair between a married woman and a younger man, suggesting the woman’s loyalty had shifted away from her husband.
Edochie also advised men against tolerating infidelity, insisting that forgiveness after cheating reflects weakness.
According to him, men should establish clear boundaries in relationships and avoid becoming emotionally dependent on women.
He added that women are often attracted to confident and emotionally strong partners.
The comments, shared on Monday through clips from the interview, have generated debates across social media platforms, with many Nigerians expressing mixed opinions about his views on relationships and marriage.
While some agreed with his position on emotional commitment, others criticised his comments on forgiveness and gender roles in relationships.
The actor’s latest remarks add to ongoing public discussions about love, loyalty, marriage, and modern relationship expectations in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
