National News – Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has accused opposition figures of spreading fake news to destabilize the government and weaken the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fani-Kayode claimed the disinformation campaign aims to sow tension within the ruling party and undermine confidence in its electoral prospects.
He urged APC members to stay united against such tactics.
Speaking on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode denied reports that his ambassadorial appointment to a Central European country was rejected by Germany over alleged ethnic and religious slurs.
He said such reports are part of a broader strategy to create panic and confusion.
“Every day they come up with something new, like fake news suggesting the Governor of Nassarawa State is working for Atiku,” he said, warning that disinformation would continue to target different political figures.
The former minister emphasized that the political environment is becoming increasingly tense.
He called on APC members and supporters of President Bola Tinubu to prepare for a challenging election cycle in 2027.
“Judging by their desperation and their use of disinformation, we must close ranks and brace ourselves for the mother of all struggles,” he said.
Fani-Kayode expressed confidence in the APC’s chances and President Tinubu’s re-election, stating that efforts by local collaborators and foreign actors cannot overcome the government’s initiatives.
He also highlighted the importance of mobilizing young people in politics, saying, “We need to bring our youngest, brightest, and most courageous youths into the forefront of the fight.”
He concluded on a positive note: “By God’s grace, the President shall be re-elected in 2027, and Nigeria shall continue to progress and go from strength to strength.”
