National News – The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has approved the promotion and conversion of 2,114 civil servants across the state, following the conclusion of the November–December 2025 promotion exercises.

The decision, which includes immediate financial benefits, was confirmed by Mr. Robison Odo, Chairman of the Enugu State Civil Service Commission, in a statement released through the governor’s media office on Tuesday.

The approval covers officers from Grade Levels 01 to 17 who successfully passed mandatory interviews and examinations.

Odo revealed that all administrative processes for the promotions and conversions have been completed, ensuring beneficiaries access their new salaries and emoluments without delay.

“The Executive Governor has approved the release of promotions and conversions for 2,114 officers who participated in the 2025 exercise.

The approval is effective immediately and includes financial benefits,” he stated.

The civil service reforms are part of Governor Mbah’s broader policy to enhance workers’ welfare.

The state currently implements a minimum wage of ₦80,000, exceeding the national benchmark, while prioritizing the timely payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities despite ongoing infrastructural investments.

Dr. Godwin Anigbo, Head of Service, emphasized that the promotion exercise aligns with a larger agenda to improve efficiency and modernize public service delivery.

Initiatives include transitioning from analogue to digital operations, establishing a public service training institute, and equipping employees with 21st-century skills.

Anigbo also highlighted that the Office of the Head of Service is collaborating closely with the Civil Service Commission to maintain a disciplined, skilled workforce aligned with the state’s development goals.

The promotions reflect a commitment to motivating employees and fostering professional growth in Enugu State’s civil service.

The Governor’s directive reinforces Enugu’s focus on institutional capacity building, accountability, and ensuring civil servants are adequately compensated for their contributions to state development.
