National News – The All Progressives Congress in Abia State has congratulated Chief Eric Opah after emerging as the party’s governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party announced the outcome following its governorship primary election conducted across the 184 wards in the state on Thursday.
According to the APC leadership in Abia, Opah secured a landslide victory by polling 125,977 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, who received 5,905 votes.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, shortly after the completion of the primary exercise in Umuahia.
The party praised aspirants, delegates, electoral officials, and supporters for ensuring a peaceful and transparent election process.
APC leaders described the exercise as credible and orderly, noting that the conduct of party members reflected growing unity and confidence within the party structure in Abia State.
The APC also expressed confidence in Opah’s leadership qualities, saying he possesses the experience, vision, and political capacity required to lead the party into the 2027 governorship election.
Party officials added that the goal is to reclaim the Government House in Umuahia under the APC platform.
In the statement, the party urged members and supporters to remain united and committed as preparations begin for the 2027 polls.
APC leaders stressed that unity among stakeholders would strengthen the party’s chances of securing victory during the next governorship election in the state.
