National News – All Progressives Congress has rescheduled the Adamawa Central Senatorial District primary election to Saturday, May 23, 2026, as part of its ongoing nationwide primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made on Friday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, who confirmed the new date in an official statement.
According to the APC, the postponement affects only the Adamawa Central Senatorial District exercise in Adamawa State.
The party directed all aspirants, delegates, officials, and stakeholders to comply strictly with the electoral guidelines to ensure a transparent, peaceful, and credible primary election process.
Morka explained that the party remains committed to conducting fair internal elections across the country despite delays and logistical adjustments recorded in some states.
He urged party members to cooperate fully with electoral committees and security agencies during the exercise.
The APC had earlier conducted senatorial primaries nationwide on Monday, but several states witnessed postponements, withdrawals, and complaints of irregularities.
Political observers believe the latest shift in Adamawa reflects the party’s effort to address internal concerns and improve the credibility of the selection process.
The ruling party has continued its nationwide primaries for governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and state assembly positions ahead of the next election cycle.
While some states concluded their exercises peacefully, others faced disputes over delegate lists, voting procedures, and alleged manipulation.
The Adamawa Central primary is expected to attract significant political attention as aspirants battle for the party’s ticket in one of the state’s key senatorial districts.
Party officials insist the rescheduled exercise will be conducted under strict monitoring to avoid controversy and ensure transparency.
