National News – The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested the father of former Big Brother Naija winner, Ilebaye Odiniya, following an alleged midnight assault at her residence in Abuja.

The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Odiniya, was taken into custody after police received a distress call reporting violence inside the family home located in the Wuye area of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, officers from the Wuye Division and operatives from the Department of Operations responded to the emergency around 12:00 a.m. on May 9, 2026.

The police team reportedly encountered difficulty gaining access to the residence because the gate was locked, delaying immediate intervention until about 2:30 a.m.

Authorities said the reality TV star was discovered with visible bruises alongside her brothers during the rescue operation.

She was immediately rushed to the NNPC Hospital in Abuja for urgent medical treatment.

Police confirmed that medical attention was provided while investigations into the alleged domestic violence incident continue.

The incident gained widespread public attention after videos surfaced online showing the BBNaija star emotionally pleading for help during a livestream.

In the viral footage, Ilebaye appeared distressed, crying and calling for assistance while displaying swelling on her face.

The video sparked concern among fans and social media users, leading to widespread calls for police intervention and protection for the reality television personality.

The FCT Police Command stated that Emmanuel Odiniya remains in custody as detectives work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.

Authorities also assured the public that a thorough investigation would be carried out to establish what led to the incident and whether additional legal actions would follow.
