National News – The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the June 20, 2026 election in Ekiti State, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has presented a 10-point development agenda aimed at transforming the state’s economy, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and governance.
The policy document, titled “My Contract with Ekiti,” was unveiled in Ado Ekiti on Friday as part of his campaign strategy ahead of the election.
Oluyede said the agenda was designed to reposition Ekiti as a productive, inclusive, and economically competitive state.
He explained that the plan focuses on agriculture, job creation, healthcare reform, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, digital innovation, taxation reform, local government autonomy, women’s inclusion, and economic diversification.
According to the PDP candidate, agriculture remains the backbone of Ekiti’s economy and will be modernised through mechanised farming, improved extension services, farmer training programmes, and enhanced access to modern equipment.
He also pledged to tackle post-harvest losses by establishing storage facilities, silos, and export channels that would enable farmers to access larger markets and earn better returns.
On economic growth, Oluyede stated that his administration would prioritise production-driven development rather than excessive taxation.
He promised to attract investments, support small businesses, and encourage entrepreneurship to create jobs and expand the state’s revenue base.
The manifesto also highlights digital economy development through the integration of digital literacy into the education system.
In addition, technical and vocational training centres would be established to equip young people with practical skills needed in today’s labour market.
Addressing infrastructure challenges, Oluyede pledged to rehabilitate roads, improve electricity supply, and expand access to clean water across the state.
He also proposed healthcare reforms, including a contributory health insurance scheme, stronger primary healthcare centres, improved drug availability, and incentives for health workers.
The PDP candidate further promised greater opportunities for women in leadership and expanded access to education, healthcare, and economic empowerment programmes.
With political activities intensifying ahead of the election, Oluyede’s manifesto sets out a policy-driven roadmap intended to win voter support and shape the future of Ekiti State.
