National News – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has sealed facilities belonging to Inner Galaxy Steel and other linked companies over alleged involvement in railway vandalism and recycling of stolen rail materials.

The action followed a court order secured after operatives arrested suspects and recovered vandalised railway infrastructure allegedly traced to the company’s premises in Birnin Yero, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, disclosed during a briefing on Sunday that suspects were being investigated for conspiracy, theft, destruction of railway infrastructure, concealment of stolen property and alleged financing of terrorism.

He explained that the Corps obtained a search warrant and court approval to seal the affected facilities while investigations continue nationwide.

According to the NSCDC, the court order also covers facilities linked to Jiuxing Integrity Industrial Ltd in Abia and Zamfara states, including other branches connected to the investigation.

Afolabi stated that all recovered railway sleepers and tracks had been transferred to the Nigerian Railway Corporation as exhibits for prosecution.

The Corps alleged that some arrested workers confessed that vandalised railway materials were usually transported to the factories for melting and recycling into products such as roofing sheets and nails.

The NSCDC also revealed that some Chinese nationals linked to the case had been invited for questioning but had yet to appear before investigators.

The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Audi, directed operatives handling the case to remain professional and ensure that all suspects found culpable face prosecution under the law.

He also urged Nigerians to support security agencies with credible information to help combat economic sabotage and protect critical national infrastructure.

Railway vandalism remains a major security concern in Nigeria despite government investments in rail transport projects, including the Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail lines.

Authorities say the destruction and theft of railway facilities continue to threaten public safety, transportation services and economic growth across the country.
