National News – President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent killings and abductions carried out by gunmen in Plateau State and Kaduna State, describing the attacks as cruel, barbaric, and unacceptable.
The President made this known on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, following deadly assaults in Angwan Rukuba district in Jos and Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna, where several residents and wedding guests were reportedly killed while others were abducted.
Tinubu vowed that security agencies would hunt down those responsible and ensure they face justice.
According to a statement released by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the attackers targeted vulnerable communities under the cover of darkness, killing innocent citizens and spreading fear among residents.
Tinubu said such acts were cowardly and intended to trigger retaliatory violence and further instability in already tense areas.
The President directed security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering and proactive operations to prevent similar attacks.
He stressed the importance of early warning systems and swift response strategies to protect vulnerable communities and rescue abducted victims.
Tinubu also warned against misinformation and narratives that could inflame tensions, urging sections of the media and the public to avoid portraying the attacks as religiously motivated without verified evidence.
According to him, false claims could escalate the crisis and undermine ongoing security efforts.
The President commended Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for their leadership in managing the situation and supporting rescue operations for those abducted during the attacks.
He assured both state governments and residents that the Federal Government would provide the necessary support to restore peace and security.
Tinubu further revealed that the government was investing in advanced security technology and equipment to enable law enforcement agencies to track criminals in real time and dismantle violent networks across the country.
He expressed condolences to the families of victims and wished the injured a quick recovery while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and strengthening national security.
